Our Work

Lions Club Gordons Bay

WHERE THERE IS A NEED, THERE IS A LION.

The members of Lions Club Gordon’s Bay share a core belief – to serve their community. We volunteer for various projects – including feeding the hungry, aiding seniors and helping during disasters.

OUR YOUTH, OUR FUTURE

We support local children and schools through recreation, mentoring and book donations. We offer programs including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange. Our Leo programme provides the youth with an opportunity for personal development through volunteering.

MISSION

Lions serve! It’s that simple. Our Lions Club is a place where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improve the health and well being of those in need. We are dedicated to serve our local community and neighbours in the greater Gordon’s Bay area, our home in the Western Cape, South Africa.

LEO PROGRAMME

We work together with the Leo Club of Gordon’s Bay. LEO stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity. The aim is to empower young people to serve their local community. Leos learn the art of serving others with compassion. They are devoted young people who realise the power of action. If you attend a local school get in touch to find out more on starting a Leo Club at your school.

MEETINGS

Our Lions meet on the third Wednesday of every month at our club house on the sports ground of Gordons Bay.  Visitors are most welcome to join us! Our meeting starts at 18:30, we would love to meet you. It is good to know that many of our members have full-time jobs and serve our projects with flexible levels of participation. Our Lions Club runs on Volunteer Power!

CHRISTMAS CAKE SALE

Each year we sell delicious Lions Christmas Cakes which have proved to be extremely popular! Be sure to make a note and put your orders in by getting in touch with us this autumn. The Charity Chest at 2 Waterway Road in Gordon’s Bay stocks the cakes. The Lions Christmas Cakes make perfect gifts and are wonderful value for money! The proceeds are used to finance our work in the community.
